Intro-Dhanesh Persaud

I am Dhanesh Persaud, but most people call me Dan for short. I am 17 years old and was born on December 4th. I recently graduated from Thomas A. Edison High School with my certification in Cybersecurity and IT fundamentals as well. I am Indian-Guyanese or Indo-Guyanese for short, which means that I am a descendant of indentured slaves and servants who migrated from India during the year 1838. I am also the eldest of my brother and sister. My siblings and I also happen to be the first generation in our family to be born in America. Enough about my background though, let me tell you guys some facts about me.

One thing about me is that I love being Caribbean because of the culture, traditions, cuisines, music genres, languages, and islands. I also love traveling. It keeps me busy and intrigues me seeing different types of landscapes and being in a different environment. My dream place to travel to is Greece. Growing up, I was into cars as well. Being around my cousins is really what made me start taking an interest in them. They would call me and say “get ready” which would lead to us ending up at a car show. This eventually led to one of my goals being to own a supercar. And last but not least, I love learning from others. What I mean by this is I like to hear how others view certain topics. Not everyone sees certain things the same way, and hearing how others view a topic can help me learn new things and expand my knowledge. As I attend college, I look forward to growing and using that knowledge to get me places and be able to make my interests come true.

  1. Wow I learned a lot about you. You are an interesting guy Dhanesh, Dan!

I loved learning this: Indian-Guyanese or Indo-Guyanese for short, which means that I am a descendant of indentured slaves and servants who migrated from India during the year 1838.

I have always wondered how my Guyanese students came from India and what that link was. So now I know and it sounds a bit like how England sent indentured persons to Australia. No?

I love Indian food and I guess you eat really yummy food at home. My family had very good friends from India and my mom learned from Ms. Swami how to make Pouri — that puffy fried bread and she also made the potatoes and chick pea filling. So good!
