1. People with more severe COVID symptoms are more likely to develop mental health issues. | 2. Biological factors and emotional stressors contribute to these mental health issues. | 3. Not enough people were tested for COVID and not enough research was done on the mental health effects of COVID. |
PART 2: SUMMARY
In “Covid patients may have increased risk of developing mental health problems.” Pam Belluck Records that Coronavirus might be the reason as to why mental health problems are increasing and that people were significantly more likely to be diagnosed with psychiatric disorder they hadn’t had than people who didn’t get infected. Pam Belluck an American journalist Records and describes study’s of Covid-19. In one of the study’s found that patients hospitalized for covid-19 were more likely to be diagnosed with mental health issues than those with less serious coronavirus infections. This gives an example with people more severe Covid-19 symptoms. But with these symptoms Dr. Boldrini a Psychiatrist believed the symptoms were most likely influenced by biological factors and Physiological stresses associated with having an illness. But In the end Dr. Harrison a Thoracic Surgeon who has conducted other studies with large electronic medical databases noted that such analysis can miss more small information about patients. Doctors were still unsure if Covid-19 is to blame for the Mental health of People
PART 3: REFLECTION
This article help me see more clearly by stating evidence weather or not Covid-19 was the cause of the increasing of mental health. Truth be told, not enough evidence and studies can prove if covid-19 was the really the main reason for the mental health situation. This honesty surprise me because you think after 2 years has gone by psychiatrists and other doctors would have enough research to figure out the main cause. They never also mention the age group of the people it would hit. What IF the sudden meatal health only affects youngsters for example young teenagers. Does it affect them because they are still developing and still in there early stages of life? or because they have poor structure to their physiology. In the article Pam States Dr. Boldrini a Psychiatrist believed the symptoms were most likely influenced by biological factors and Physiological stresses associated with having an illness. Which means it Most likely due to those 2 factors, Biological and physiological. Although This article is giving out plenty of information on how Covid could potentially be the cause of why mental health problems are increasing, not enough is given for example as I said early which age group. Back in high school when Covid-19 struck the world, many of my friends that I know were complaining about Covid-19 and how it was affecting their minds and mental health problems. At first I just ignore them but then for a while I had covid-19 and it was until then I looked back at to what they said and though “maybe they were right this is all Covid fault I’m acting this way.” So I have to agree with Pam Belluck an American journalist who Records and describes study’s of Covid-19. In one of the study’s found that patients hospitalized for covid-19 were more likely to be diagnosed with mental health issues than those with less serious coronavirus infections.
