(87-89) In the these scenes Obama grand parents had an argument. The argument was about how his grandmother started to show her true colors and how she really feels towards black men as the grandfather wouldn’t drive her to work. This made Obama feel hurt and betrayed because he is black ,so he does not really have her support. As he wants everything to be ok things just keep getting more complicated as his grandfather tells him the truth.Things get out of hand as the grandma is scared of black men , which made things uncomfortable.
“Thats the real reason why she’s bothered. And I just don’t think thats right.”This quote is important because it shows how the grandfather is telling Obama that he does not respect his grandmother for insulting black men. When Obama heard the news he felt very disappointed and hurt.As he was in disbelief he still felt that he could still help her.
In these scenes Obama learns that he is on his own when it comes to making decisions. He also controls his own emotions and mood that he is in.Even though he dosen’t understand his grandmother ;he still wants to help her .Last thing he learns is that the world is against him ,so he needs to stay strong. The truth may hurt but at least he knows what’s going on.
