In reading of Metadata and the Power of Controlled Vocabularies, Badke explained how to find relevant information for research. There are two ways to search information: keyword and controlled vocabularies. When we want to search something, we usually type keyword in the search box. The keyword search usually give us the information that contains actual words that you search for. We often get the data that we actually don’t need. But controlled vocabularies is different. Badke said, ” controlled vocabularies get at what the data is actually about, rather than seeking out the words the data uses to decribe itself.” Controlled vocabularies search gives us more relevant data than keyword search.
