There are two different perspectives and views from mainstream and underground art, just like a head and tail of a coin there are always the good and the bad. In the way that Brogan explains in the âMedia Art, Mediality and Art Generallyâ the shift of differentiation and separation of art culture is due to change of âinterest and orientationâ in which the access of newer technology leads to a broader horizon on the design world.
The subject topic I will be presenting is in regard to my first paper on Japanese Capsule Hotel and the changes from technology in architecture from a designer standpoint. I feel like the design from this hotel can be used on the graphical theory that is applied to this class and I can work more on. I am looking for some modern capsule building and how it would change the design over the year with more efficiency.
On the topic of mainstream art, people are seeing these arts as a new norm of art and believe that is the standardization of art many people would aim for. Like most complimentary today , they are what people would consider mainstream art. Underground art on the other hand becomes the underdog of arts and usually is rare and out of sight, but the uniqueness of art has made it into mainstream art. I feel like it makes a huge gap between mainstream art but always ends up coming together.

From what I was reading in this article it was confusing to me, but the gist of the topic is what I can interpret from this article is that technology has made messages much more accessible to the public and it shows the limit that can be broken through with technology. While it may sound like it can have a huge positive impact there are always downsides in technology where people will do it for other means. The medium of the message is what made the standardization
In around the second paragraph of the article âThis fact, characteristic of all media, means that the âcontentâ of any medium is always another mediumâ The content of the medium is what the designer should think of using, the content is much more of the idea of what a designer has to complete the product. The way of invention had been described by McLuhan as a whole new innovation of lifestyle and with technology that people have constantly used. I feel like in the same way designers today wouldn’t have innovated their idea without the help of technology and the access of information they can get to use.
Overall , I still only understand the topic at hand, but the whole article seems to not make it much more clear for people who are not used to that form of writing and trying to decipher the information.
From the reading I found that communication in a form of typophoto is the missing piece in design. In the reading Laslo describe how lifeless some design has been with the advancement of technology , the which is why I believe that Laslo idea of having typophoto idea has became much of a staple fundamental of design in which the text should be more attentive as much as the photo, but also have the photo gives words without putting text. The idea of new technique of typography in the design does add meaning by adding photos and by that logic I believe that it is very important for anyone’s design to reach greatness by having to use images on their type.
The most important context I can take away from Gropius Bauhaus âThe Theory and Organization of the Bauhausâ is that design can’t truly be done by just studying the art. Sure it can reinforce some of the technique that it is hard to learn, but design itself should be something âyouâ the designer have to make yourself as it is your creation from what you learn from teaching , thereâs always a new way to learn from doing thing individually and seeing the art of other as inspiration.
