I first learned about Beaux-Art in an art history class. Beaux-Art was the academic architectural style. Some characteristics of this archictectural style are symmetry, classical details, ornamentation, materials, hierarchy of spaces and architecture parlante. The buildings shown above are the New York Public Library, San Francisco City Hall & Grand Central Terminal. What I find interesting of this style of architecture is the symmetry of the building, like the rectangle look with the columns and arches. I find this style of architecture very presidential and elegant.
