The photos are from the Rococo art period. These three paintings are the “The Swing”, “The Embarkation for Cythera” & “Loves of the Shepherds”. All these paintings are by Jean-Honore Fragonard. The Rococo period was an ornamental and dramatic style of architecture, art and decoration which combines asymmetry, scrolling curves, gilding, white and pastel colors, sculpted moulding, and trompe-loeil frescoes to create surprise and the illusion of motion and drama. I first was introduced to “The Swing” painting in my art history class in high school. Which interests me about this art period are the softness of the colors and the fact the it shows motion. I like how it looks as if it is a photograph.
