    the atmosphere of this place from the picture is more for a mans club.The picture they put online very interesting but from the description of the service I don’t think I would dine there. It does not come across as a calm relaxing place to have dinner. If ever it is it would be a lunch party. I also get the idea that the owners are trying hard until they get it, I would have to say no!

    The restaurant review about Saxon & Parole was very informative and interesting. I like how Eric Asimov (the writer) gave history of the place and referred to how its past was similar to the atmosphere in the Restaurant. It seems that many places are a work in progress when they are new but the menu sounds like it might have potential. The desserts sound as if they are the most consistent menu items. But the question is would I eat at this place from reading this article? Hmmmm…. Not now at least. New places have their quarks and people like to be at new happening spots but service and the food don’t sound up to par. My dining experience consists of food, service and ambiance (Yes, in that order). So, I would wait till after December to visit. Maybe by then, they would have their menu together.

    Reading the restaurant review of Saxon & Parole I am a bit confused because why rush to open up a new restaurant and not take your time and make sure that the space, the menu, the service as well as the ambiance are up to part? I am not a fan of Eating confusing food and being a guinea pig of some sort, I like for the plate to go together so unless another New York Times review tells me that things have gotten better I will not be visiting Saxon & Parole. Right now it seems that there is a lot of confusion with everything that that restaurant entails and service is thumbs down as well. There are a few items on the menu that got good reviews, but I don’t think I want to chance it for right now.

    Saxon & Parole is located at NoHo at 316 bowery (Bleecker Street). Price range start from 20 dollars to 125 dollars for a seafood tower. Appetizers started from 10 dollars to 17 dollars. Main course start from 17- dollar to 90 dollar and dessert start from 9 dollars to 12 dollar. The atmosphere is casual and sort of clubby. After reading the article I will not dine there because the foods sound very original and odd. In the article it mention about the soup and how it taste bad or just a bad combination of flavor. The restaurant served carrot, ginger and lemon soup, addition of “toasted chili marshmallow.” The author explained how the marshmallow melts into the soup, by combining with the carrots that made it under seasoned and overwhelmingly sweet. The author also explained the meal for two; bone-in strip and a rib-eye, lack in flavor. I will not spend any cents on a restaurant that served horrible dishes.

    Very interesting article. The restaurant Saxon and Parole was named after two 19th century race horses. This was a brilliant idea to incorporate the horse ambiance which makes me think of Polo racing. It was also brought to my attention that this specific restaurant is a “Men’s Club”. The atmosphere is casual and clubby, it is geared more for men then females, although women are welcomed and are seated on one side of the dining room to have cocktails and eat shellfish. Outrageous, you will never catch me dining at a restaurant/men’s club dining by myself in hope of other females to attend to keep my company, and flash photographs all night. I do not wish to dine at this restaurant until service is improved as well as taste. I can’t believe some of their foods are tastless and overcooked. No way you will catch me in this restaurant, it needs major improvements with their food, service, and ambiance.

    After reading the article about Saxon & Parole it seems to me that they are working more on their theme then their food or service. He describe some dishes to be either overwhelming or lacking of flavor. He also says the dining staff is either inexperience or clueless. After reading this article I wouldn’t think about trying this restaurant. Afterall we go to a restaurant for good food and service and this restaurant lacks in both catagories.

    Tasteless Bronzini…mediocre steaks…maple glazed grapes (gross)…chili marshmallow O,0……I wonder if Chef Farmerie wishes Eric Asimov would fall off a cliff edge after reading the review of Saxon & Parole. Unnecessary dishes? Ouch, that may have hurt the chef.

    Inconsistency plagued the premature restaurant according to the review, which only means that Saxon & Parole needed to ensure the menu was fine-tuned before opening for business.

    Eric does write a few paragraphs in his review that made my mouth water. He describes the burger very well, as I have always believed that a fried egg should be a mandatory topping for aged beef burgers. Am I weird?

    The desserts won me over immediately. Saxon & Parole seems like the place to go just for the desserts.

    The ambience seems pleasant, a place I would go for late night drinks with friends, for i can imagine the bar menu to have really good mixed drinks, since it is dominated by a bar.

    I would go to Saxon & Parole, sit at the bar, and order the burger, the desserts, and drinks, so I could see what kind of young women drink cocktails and eat shellfish at this restaurants.

    Saxon & Parole is a restaurant men’s club named after two 19th Century racehorses. The ambiance is related to the restaurant’s name.

    Although is a men club, women are also welcomed to drink cocktails and eat shellfish.

    Saxon & Parole employees are not knowledgeable (friendly but clueless,) the food has been overcooked and its tasteless. For me the entirely menu was confusing. The only thing that made my mouth water was the dessert: Feathery Light Cinnamon doughnuts. Other than that, nothing seemed appealing to me. In addition, i would not dine at this restaurant.

    The restaurant review about Saxon & Parole provided me with a descriptive insight of the exquisite craftsmanship and layout of the restaurant. Located in the heart of Manhattan, it caters to individuals who wish to have a 5-star dining experience in a theatrical setting. Anyone would agree that the dishes are set at a reasonable price. I would highly recommend that you dine at Saxon & Parole…its worth your while 🙂

    Saxon and Parole this is definitely a case of “don’t judge a book by its cover.” When just reading the name I was hoping for either Australian or European cuisine. Then after reading the restaurant named after two racehorses, I was hoping it would be as unique as the namesake would. Yet all we get is another American Style Steakhouse can you say boring because I passed out half way through this review. Eric Asimov writer of this article entitled, “Conjuring the Past, Feeding the Present” actually recommends to have the beet salad, steamed Brussels sprouts, or the hamburger because some of the steaks as he states, “Lack the same burst of flavor” are you serious. Then to add to this sad fact are a clueless service staff. For now, I will not be stopping by 316 Bowery but I hope that they can shape up before Saxon and Parole is sent to the glue factory.

    After reading Saxon & Parole made me think that they were in a rush to open their restaurant. The writer, Eric Asimov expressed his dining out at the Saxon & Parole as if he was not pleased with anything except the desserts. The atmosphere of the restaurant was explained to be a little noisy, with a bar that was taking over the front of the restaurants and two dining rooms. I wouldnt like to go there because i felt the restaurant was more of a lounge/bar than a place to eat. More of a place to get hook ups than a nice night out. Also from the descriptions the writer has explained, the food they served was very confusing. Having oysters, a caviar dish, and a burger can be confusing, hard to relate each dish together.

    Very informative article. I could see the writer tried hard to describe all the details in the restaurant. When I dine at restaurants, it is crucial that restaurant has good ambience that I can enjoy. The way he describes in the article, it seems to be interesting atmosphere. But still, I can’t spend big money on restaurant that serves so-so or less than okay food. I’m big fan of seafood, so I paid extra attention on the part that he talked about the lobster menu, but it didn’t seem appealing at all. When the restaurant tries to serve too many kinds of food, it is difficult to satisfy customers with every single dish like Saxon & Parole. I want them to find their strong point, and simplify their menu.

    I would eat at Saxon & Parole, because I am a fan of burgers. The restaurant itself looks like a fine dining restaurant. It’s interesting they have two dining rooms; one downstairs with more of a comfort seating with leather and the other one alongside a bar. A hamburger with aged beef, havarti cheese, smoked bacon, and with a fried egg sounds really good. The author reviewing the article mentions that to him a burger is about the meat and nothing to interfere with the experience of it, but I think burgers can be anything if done right. I personally would go and try the burger, because it looks delicious.

  14. I’m kind of on the fence about whether I would attend this restaurant or not since it is new. I think I would need more reviews to look at to make this decision. The hamburger does look quite appetizing however. Also the inexperienced and clueless staff would not make me happy eating here, I know I’d definitely have some questions to ask and if they are not being answered properly it would turn me off.
