Brooklyn Bridge Park Visit

Adventure tourism – Laura, Darlenis, Amanda

Adventure tourism is participating in physical and active activities as a tourist in a place that you could learn about the culture and heritage in that area. These activities do not have to be extreme like bungee jumping but it can be a hike or biking on a path.

Observations of activities: We noticed that Brooklyn Bridge Park has a lot of activities to offer like roller skating, biking, basketball, etc. Since Brooklyn Bridge Park is a fairly new area in Brooklyn, tourists can explore this area by simply walking through the park and finding these active activities. For example, there is a lot of open space which allows people to exercise in groups like yoga. All these activities that we saw are aimed towards every age group. Playgrounds are available for families and walking or biking are offered for adults.

Area of Tourism: Heritage Tourism

Heritage Tourism is traveling to places to experience the cultural and historical background of the people and to see essential artifacts used to represent the people who once lived, and thrived in the location.

People in my group: Nayalynn, Anita, and Jaycee

Observations:

There is a pretty rich background and history when it comes to heritage at the Brooklyn Waterfront. One of the observations one of my group members made, Anita, was that slavery used to thrive in the Brooklyn waterfront. What I learned as well is that as a method of transporting slaves and goods in the early times, the docks would be used to travel and bring people to New York. Brooklyn, in general, thrived with the transport and trade of slavery and goods that soon incorporated a different culture and influence in what is now known as the Brooklyn Waterfront. In terms of the community surrounding the waterfront, Nayalynn observed that there was a post mentioning that the area was also known as the home to Brooklyn’s free black community.

36 hours in athens

I would like to be able to go to athens. The place feels very homelike kind of like a place where you can relax and have fun without rushing your self. The Acropolis museum sparks interest in me because i always read and watch greek mythos. the culture of greek is also in the museum so it teaches me what they do different from where I am.Many places to see like the ruins where old history are still there to people to be amazed.  The sweets in Athens just makes my mouth water from reading it. The Baskery known as Meliartos seems to be a very relaxing place for you to spend  your morning time. The restaurants  are very casual and at night time that’s where most people walk outside to appreciate their wine. The place is very casual to me and i would love to visit it with my family and friends if i ever have the money.

36 Hours in Nashville

I love country music Nashville is known as the “home of country music.” I would like to visit there someday I will visit the Gulch neighborhood and dine at Adele’s who focused on “seasonal comfort food” the pork loin with watermelon, jalapeno chutney, and mint sounds delicious. Later visit Station Inn and Douglas Corner Cafe for some live country music. Finally, before departing Nashville, I will attend the Country Music City Hall of Fame and the Johnny and Patsy museum.

36 Hours in Nashville

Described with “Flourishing art and food scenes, and musical venues that celebrates new voices…”, Nashville has gone through several iterations through decades. Nashville went from being a “home of country music”, then to one of the fastest growing foreign-born citizens of the United States. Personally, I am interested in traveling to Nashville, for the same reason: the cuisine that Nashville has to offer. Adele’s, in the Gulch neighborhood, is more focused on seasonal cuisine. Pork loin with watermelon, jalapeño chutney and mint seems to be a interesting combination to me, I am eager to get a taste of this particular dish. In addition, a recent restaurant, The Southern V, offers budget cuisine described as “tasty comfort food” that is completely vegan. I would definitely like to try out the barbecue jackfruit with “vegan” mac and cheese and baked beans.

36 Hours in Montreal

A Large and popular city in Canada, described as having “…outlying neighborhoods… along with natural wine bars, street art and pop-up markets”, and is now 376 years old! The restaurants in Montreal include “Le Mousso” from chef Antonin Mousseau-Rivard offers “bites” such as a foie gras nub “within a cloud” of cotton candy and “crab-folded taco-style in a thin slice of rutabaga”. Montreal, is additionally described as a city of bagels, but smoked meat is also a culinary centerpiece, for the city’s “delicatessens”, thanks to the Jewish community. Personally, I would not travel to this destination despite being pretty close from New York, mainly because I feel that the cuisine selection is not really interesting for me.

36 Hours in Tucson

Tucson Arizona, seems to be a very interesting place to visit. Tucson cultural diversity and wide variety of Mexican cuisine caught my attention. After, a nice walk to the Tumanoc Hills there’s nothing better than enjoying a freshly made taco from Boca Tacos. Also, many restaurants and museums are walking distance I can browse the markets for locally made jewellery and handbags. Later, indulge in the  night life  at the Tough Luck Club sipping on a delicious cocktail. As the night comes to an end lodging at AC hotel by Marriot which provides great service to their guest. In addition, the price to visit Tucson Arizon is very affordable and more importantly its right here in the US.

36 Hours in Paris

I would like to visit Paris because it houses one of the world’s seven wonders know as the Eiffel Tower. I would like to visit the Louvre to observe the famous Mona Lisa by Leonardo Di Vinci. You can also create your own garden at the Marche aux Fleurs. The market is open since 1830 its houses rare orchids and cacti as well as floral soaps.  The Jardin des Plantes  is a reserve of lawns and flowers and unique architectural buildings. this is why I would like to visit Paris.
