Industry Research Assingment

Find your notes from the trends in-class activity on November 2. Using a google search, identify three trends in the segment of the hospitality industry you are exploring. Find one article for each trend and share the URL. Post your findings int he homework section of Blackboard. Here is an example:

Read Chapters 5 and 7 and submit your responses via Blackboard to the following statements and questions

Chapter 5, Support your answers with information from the textbook.

  • List and explain in your own words the major categories of beverages
  • Identify and explain two difficulties a manager will face when serving alcoholic beverages.
  • List two security measures associated with storing alcohol. Why is each important?

Chapter 7, Use at least 10 vocabulary words from chapter 7 to answer these two questions:

  • Describe the importance of restaurant forecasting and the components that are needed for an accurate forecast.
  • Give examples of the different types of restaurant systems used in the back of the house.

Read, Going Back to Eat in Midtown in the NY Times and respond to these two questions:

  • “What is the issue presented in the article?”
  • “What does the information mean to me as a hospitality professional?” Remember to refer to information in the textbook when determining your response.
