(Adjetive)To be well-known or talked of.(Merriam Webster)
Ive encountered this word when I was doing my annotated bibliography assignment. In my words, I said-
“When immigrants arrived from their countries, they even gave names to famous places like Ellis Island, and liberty island with oyster related names. Such as “little oyster Island” for Ellis Island, and “great oyster Island” for liberty island. They got these names because of how New York was notorious for its common ingredient, oysters.”
In this section of my assignment, I described how New York was notorious for their ingredient, oysters. and because of this, immigrants gave names to common New York places.
