I have encountered this word in – “Nontsikelelo Mutiti on Interrogating the Euro-centric Design Canon.” from week #3 agenda reading.

Quote – The way we teach graphic design is we’ve tried to have this “global” arc of what has been happening in the discipline. This idea of the globe has never been all-encompassing, nor has it referenced how motifs, trends, and visual ideas have circulated since before colonialism and because of it.

From this quote, the author is conveying that graphic design is considered to be taught in a global way but in reality, it is the opposite, it does not cover all trends and motives that have circulated since before colonialism.
