FINAL DRAFTS

Have you ever thought some words should be used by a certain group of people?

Yes, there is some word that can be said by a group of people it’s the case of “Nigger”.The word Nigger or negres in french is a street word or slang, we said “nigga” which is pronounced the same but different way of writing. This word nigger (nigga), that we use today is related to our history as black people in the 17th century at slavery time. This history begins with these countries in Europe England, France, Spain, and others by taking control of the small islands and bringing black people from Africa. Also, history mentioned that the boat that transports the slave were calling Negrier which is another reason they call them slave nigger. Due to the fact, that the Africans have different skin of color to the white people they used to call them nigger.  During this period it was normal for a white person to call them like that just to remind them of the  differences between Black and White. Also, they show them they are not from the same social class or same categories.

However, after several years things as been change where the word nigger  is an insult for the black people and not allow a white persone to call them that way.Its considered as an racist act to call a black persorn nigger and they would be a bad concequences for this person if a lot of black people are present. On the other hand, black people call each other nigger , and they feel comfortable with that. Furthermore, a lot of rappers use the word in their songs which promotes it more to the street and school sometimes. Also, most black movies use that word toward the entertainer. Nowadays, the word nigger concerns the type of person who said it and it will not be easy to take it away from the black people because they feel comfortable and proud of it.

From my own experience, I grow up in a country where most people are black and where we use the word nigger (negres) a lot. However, not a lot of people know the meaning because we grow up and see our parents and grandparents saying it. Also, the teachers and director at school use the word a lot like it doesn’t mean anything. Despite this, I know the meaning of the I can’t stop myself from saying it because as a black person I can not get any negative reaction from anybody. As a result, it becomes a normal word for us where you will find in a book where the author expresses himself of being proud to be a nigger. The percentage of light skin people in the country is not that much but they also use the word nigger between themselves and other people. However, it doesn’t matter to anybody because we see each other as the same people. In college, I met a Russian friend who does not grow up in a country where most of their population writes. He just comes to the US doesn’t know our style of talk, so one day he asking why we calling each other nigger because he would like to fit in our style of talk. I was a little shocked and quickly understood him, then I explained the meaning of the word to him and let him know that he would be in trouble for using that word. That if he didn’t come up to me and ask for the word meaning it would be in trouble because he had the idea to use it in the street.

Surprisingly the elder does not call each other nigga because they considered it as a lack of respect toward them. This explains that the only teenager using these words to each other. Despite this, the elder wants to keep the word out of our mouths that hip-hop music could not allow us to stop using it. On tv the word nigger is considered a curse word, every time someone using the word they have to do something to cut it so the children and others could not hear it. For a lot of people that word reminds them of a lot of bad experiences back in the day with the white people. In my opinion, I agree with the elders. If you banned the word for a group of people it should ban because it doesn’t matter who’s saying it is still a cursing word. Some tv shows and bloggers on social media are trying so hard to cut off the word on every interview because then celebrities use them word a lot without saying that kids and other people are seeing them as a model for their society. However, if a writing person just the word nigga by accident they would be the first one getting and go on social media to critics them people for racism.

Some people use the word nigga refers the word bro. For example in black community sometimes they call each other nigga that’s mean they are brothers. In our world racism never stops because some whites are using the word nigger on purpose to intimidate a black person. However, it is difficult for certain people to stop it because they hear they are superior to black people. It’s a type of mentality they grow up with which means that they got it from their parents and they keep that same energy to the next generation. In England, a lot of football players are getting racial abuse from social media by some whites people by calling them nigger, monkey, and others. However It is difficult to convince them Being white doesn’t mean you are  superior , it doesn’t matter The color of skin  white , black ,metsite , light skin is created to live equally. Nowadays black people are doing an incredible job in our community as white people do by having respect for each other and not calling the black person nigger. Some I think the word nigger should be banned black people as it’s banned for white people because at the end of the day some would think it’s normal to call a black person nigger because they do it to each other. In some particular job, they could dismiss someone for calling his colleagues nigger, as a consequence, it would get a bad report which would make it hard for this person to get a job.

Unit One Final Paper- Faith

There are words that everyone knows and the meaning of them, however, when you are in a specific community, there’s a difference. If your not a believer of Christ and or apart of a religious community, what I am about to tell might be a learning lesson or change your mind.

The community I am apart of is a religious community full of Christians. I am a Christian and I believed in God since I was a little girl and was taught about the word of God from my parents. I’ve become part of the Christian community since middle school. I knew deeply the meanings of every word in the bible except for the word, “Faith”. “Faith” is a word that every single person outside of my community uses but for my community, it is similar but it is something different to us as a religious community. My first impression of that word meant it is a hope for something whenever you’re in a situation or worried about an outcome of something. Everyone inside and outside of my community thinks that. However, in the religious community, this word means we are to believe in God’s promises and trust in him. In addition, “Faith” is believing in God’s works, his plans. For example, you trust God in everything that he is doing, you believe in his plan, and how you do it?  You tell him that you trust him by praying to him. This is important to me and my community because it helps us acknowledge his works on us, our beliefs, and to have a closer relationship with Christ. “Faith” also helps us with our life troubles and trust Christ confidently and without any worries. The word in my community is used in churches and groups. Anyone who is an atheist or is a believer of christ but might not be a part of this type of community because they don’t have a religious identity or trying to find their identity can use this word.

My first experience with this word and its meaning was in my sophomore year of high school. My goal for high school was to be on the honor roll just like I was in 8th grade. To be on the honor roll, you have to have a grade point average of 80 or above. During my freshman of high school, I failed to achieve the goal because I was having difficulty understanding most of the materials and concepts in my classes because since I was a freshman, it was so new to me despite that I knew some of them from middle school. My grades in freshman year were somewhat decent. I told myself that I have to get great grades and a great GPA and that I had hoped for myself every single day instead of using Christ.

I’ve seen the word “faith” before and I never knew about its meaning in christ until my sophomore year of high school 3 years ago. At the beginning of the school year, I was excited about a new beginning but I was worried about how it was going to go. I gave my best shot in all of my classes however, I felt it was the same thing from last school year. When I came home from school one day, I was sitting in my bed depressed and was about to cry because of how it pointless for me to achieve my goal. Something tells me to do some Christian activity like reading a bible or praying. I then went to go watch religious videos on my cell phone to make myself feel better and came across a fascinating video about the word faith and its meaning. The video was talking about the meaning of faith in Christ and illustrations of it. After watching the video and other videos like this, It opened my eyes. I learned about faith in Christ and I finally knew what it meant in a religious way and why it meant to us Christians. After watching the videos I sat up on my bed and I was thinking about my past with God. I looked back at my past and I thought about how I didn’t use God a lot to help me in my life and that I should’ve asked for help. I discovered the word faith as in Christ. I realized that I had hoped with myself without turning to God I realized that not having any trust in God for myself resulted in good things not happening to me and that I didn’t turn to God or thought about him for help back then.  I then sat on my knees in my bed and I prayed to god for my forgiveness in my past and asked him to be my guide.

On the last day of school before Christmas break, It was a cloudy morning and it looked like it was about to rain, report cards for the first marking period were given out. I was sitting in my seat next to the window listening to music, doing homework, and watching the other kids play arm wrestle. A teacher called me and told me to give the report cards out to the class and then gave the report cards to me in my hand to handout. After I gave out the report cards I looked at mines, I was surprised when I saw my GPA average was 80 and that my grades were very good. I was very gleeful about it and screamed very loud, the entire classroom heard me. Everyone was so happy and proud of me. Since then I started to use the word faith to acknowledge God’s work and to trust him in what he is doing for me. Whenever there’s something, I always let God handle it. My life has gotten better and has kept improving because I had “faith” in him by trusting his plans.

How did this happen? I started to think about how I have God on my side but I didn’t rely on him when it came to schoolwork during freshman year and the first two weeks of sophomore year because I didn’t believe that his works may put a good outcome when it came to academics. I prayed every day for him to relieve my stress and anxiety, help me focus, and guide me to the right path of choices. I even let God do his work whenever I’m overwhelmed or feel like giving up. Every day, it has gotten better, because I have faith in him. My family and friends that are Christian are always confident that there are better outcomes when they are in situations and never worry. The advice my mom gave me was to always trust God because he loves us, always listen to him, and always put your mind on him.  Also to be grateful for what I have. “Faith” has always been important to my spiritual life and will always be. It means so much to me.

If you are a part of the community I’m in, meaning if you are a believer of God just like me, then your know that “faith” means so much to us because it helps us through our life troubles by trusting God and his works. We let him handle it because we believe he is good and he takes care of us and is always there for us. Without God, who would we be and what would we do without him? If your an atheist meaning not a believer in God, you don’t have to believe in him, but whenever your in some kind of situation, you can always think about having faith but it doesn’t have to be in a religious way but you have to because it gets better.
