Nutshell post. Social media

Everyone uses social media. This includes teenagers to adults and even some children. Some if not many do not realize the psychological damage this can have on some people. This issue is one that is affecting many of the young minds today since social media usage on this scale is a fairly new occurrence. This topic is to help inform its readers about some of the issues that social media has to help spread awareness to those who do not know.

The topic I have chosen is, What are the effects of social media on our mental health? What are the alternatives?

The links I will be using for research are here and here.

So in order to talk about social media, we must first understand what social media is. The first link posted leads you to a book with a pretty fitting title, “Understanding Social Media”. This book is important to the topic I have chosen because it gives useful information on what social media is. In the introduction, it starts off with how many people online use social media and how long it’s been around for. The introduction also goes over what social actually entails as well as the difference it has created. The book later addresses the changes social media has gone through. These changes discussed are important in understanding what social media is and how long social media has truly been around. Without social media, a lot of stuff we talk about or do today would be a lot different. Social media is a place where information and content are shared by its users. This description encompasses a lot of platforms you may use without evening knowing. The biggest social media platform being youtube. All in all this article helps introduce my topic to help further help the reader understand where I am coming from.
