Group Members:Elaine Leinung, Gwen Cohen-Brown, Marie Montes. Zoya Vinokur Title of Activity: HIV today:  Incidence of the disease in Brooklyn  based on ethnicity, age and culture. Pre-class we will post and article related to HIV As as assignment we will have the "class" look at HIV stats in various zip codes or areas in Brooklyn. Or we may have to reserve the computer lab to look them up that morning. We are planning to have a Guest Speaker- to discuss living with HIV and strides made etc. For our assessments We will look at pre- test related to perceptions about current risk factors, living with HIV, groups most likely to get HIV etc. We can have each "student" post later to see if the information provided ( Speaker, article, stats) changed perceptions. Also, this information have any impact on their own health behaviors or choices? This will be a self reflection posted the Open Lab space. While we are not getting a field trip we will use Brooklyn as a resource and look at it on the Computer Timeline for the session: 9:30 -3pm

 Class will be given a  short pre testClass will be given assignment  after pre test that will incorporate articles and information on Head and neck cancer, nutrition, care of patients with cancer Case study of how culture impacts patient care and response to pain and illness   Class will also be asked to write response  on their culture response to illness  written 5 question pre test  base line for cancer and effects on body and life style Assess the values and perspectives of diverse individuals, communities, and cultures and their influence on health behaviors, choices, and practices.
Use the arts, sciences and humanities as a forum for the study of values, ethical principles, and the physical world
Work with teams, including those of diverse composition. Build consensus.
Show ability to contribute actively by applying knowledge to the identification and analysis of societal and professional problems to enact solutions.
