Taking and viewing photos has changed since the 18,00’s. They are new features & differences now than they were before. Back then, one form of photography they had was daguerreotype. A daguerreotype is a portrait taken on a metal plate. Usually taken in black and white but if you wanted color the professional can then add paint after the photo is taken. in these times only professional photographers were allowed to take photos because of the poison substance used in the process, mercury. Since then many things has change but they are also many similar things.

Now taking a photo cant be easier. Compared to a  daguerreotype cameras today are handheld. You can view photos instantly after you’ve taken it. We now have the option of changing our exposure. when take a daguerreotype you had to stay in the frame without moving for 20sec. now we can caption movement and different emotions. daguerreotypes had to be small. if they weren’t small the process of setting up,taking the photo, and cleaning up would be really long. With digital, pictures can be taking and enlarged to what ever size of your choice. Most or even all digital cameras today has a flash, and daguerreotype didn’t
