36 Hours on The Brooklyn Waterfront

Brooklyn is part of New York City, but has a culture of its own. Many people call Brooklyn home and there is much to do there regardless of what your interest is

Friday

8 A.M.

We are going to get you started by checking into your hotel. The condor Hotel on Franklin Avu. By checking you in early you now have the day to yourself or you can go relax in your room.

9 A.M.

This community is always looking for help so for the next few hours try to help as many people as we can we are going to 630 Flushing Avenue we are got to pack pre-made meals to distribute in the commutiy our shift begins at 9am and runs until 12pm.

1 P.M.

You’re going to be hungry after all the food packing so for lunch we recommend going to Diner. Their grilled bass was amazing and not going to break the bank

3 P.M.

Williamsburg has a lot of historic buildings and landmarks so I recommend just walking around and sightseeing for a few hours; after all we are still tourist

5 P.M.

For dinner a great spot to hit is Marlow & Sons first of all, all the different types of oysters, that fallowed by the duck is amazing and worth every cent

7 P.M.

We’ll head back to the room for so well deserved rest you’re earned it.

Saturday

10 A.M.

Breakfast in the hotel will wake you up for the day

11 A.M.

A guided tour around not only Williamsburg but the surrounding area as well. This will give you a great idea of how beautiful the area is

1 P.M.

Kings County Tennis League provides free tennis lessons every Saturday from 1 – 3pm in Brooklyn for over 100 kids. This is a great opportunity to be a positive role model for at-risk kids, and make a difference in the Brooklyn community they provide a lunch its nothing too fancy but you being a role model is why you’re their anyway

3 P.M.

Even with that lunch a snack is always needed so why not stop at one of Brooklyn’s famous food trucks. i recommend Heartschallenger. its artsy style will make you question wheather its an ice cream truck or not but what the serve is so much better then how they look

5 P.M.

Your second night don’t be afraid to splurge a little. I would go the Zenkichi a Japanese fusion restaurant and don’t forget the ask about the Raw Jewel of the Day it’s their version of a house special

7 P.M

Enjoy the community at night watch the lights of the city by the Williamsburg Bridge. It really is breath taking

All day Sunday I recommend checking out early and going to smorgouburg and a food truck festival every weekend good food beautiful scenery you can go wrong with that

Charlie Tripoli

I was born and raised on Staten Island and still live there today. I am a graduate of Port Richmond High School where I was in the culinary program. Since I could remember I have always wanted to be a chef that has been my life goal. I hope the hospitality program at City Tech will help me hone my skills to achieve my goal. Me personally my work experiences have not helped me in my goal, my only job so far has been at a day camp for four years. I have volunteered at Meals on Wheels during the school year last year and I learned a lot there, but it isn’t the same as a restaurant kitchen. I am a great leader I have proven that by not only being a leader in my Boy Scout troop, but by reaching the rank of Eagle Scout, because of this I have the ability to look at situations and figure out the best, and correct, way to handle them. My experiences with scouting have taught me the scout law, a creed I live everyday in everything I do. I am always willing to learn from not only my professor but my peers as well. I’ve learned so much from my friends in high school and I feel I can learn much more from my fellow students. I have participated in many competitions in both the culinary and the business side of this industry, including Ccap and Pro Start. These competitions have show me the ins and outs of this job. Trough this I have learned the amount of work it take to be here and I am ready.
