How to make a tissue box (the “Diversity” way)

In this tutorial our team will walk you through the steps needed to put together a cardboard tissue box. When you are done, your result should look similar to the one below.

Supplies needed:

  • A thin piece of cardboard (approx. 16 X 12 inches)
  • A writing tool (pencil works best)
  • A ruler
  • Scissors
  • Glue (tape)
  • Saram wrap / plastic bag
  • Tissue

Steps:

1. Using the pencil and ruler draw the following diagram and cut out the template. (Fig. 1a). The length/width ratio should be kept close to 2:1. For example, each side of a regular Kleenex tissue box is 4.5 x 9 inches.

2. Cut an oval-shaped opening on side 2 (Fig. 1a)
Hint: Use one blade of the scissors to make a hole in the center of the area. Start cutting out, slowly making your way to the edge.

3. Fold side 1 along the dotted line. (Fig. 3a, 3b)
