COVID-19: Trans Lives and Trans Studies 4/3/20

On Friday, April 3rd, 2020 Gender & Sexuality Studies co-sponsored a virtual event with CLAGS: Center for LGBTQ Studies called COVID-19: Trans Live and Trans Studies. The event was a virtual dialogue featuring Susan Stryker (noted Transgender Studies scholar); Chanel Lopez (NYC Human Rights Commission); Amita Swadhin (Founder of Mirror Memoirs); Treva Ellison (Assistant Professor, Pomona College); Debanuj Dasgupta (CLAGS Board Co-Chair) and Red Washburn (CLAGS Board Member). It was moderated by City Tech’s Gender & Sexuality Studies Academic Minor Coordinator and CLAGS Board Member, Dr. Laura Westengard.

The participants had an engaging and nuanced discussion about the impact of pandemics on transgender and gender non-conforming lives and imagined ways to strengthen, build, and sustain our communities during these troubled times.
