Dr.Jekyll and Mr. Hyde -response 6

Briana Estrada -10/20 response #6

After reading the first few chapter of The strange case of Dr.Jekyll and Mr.Hyde; we get to examine who are characters are, their personalities and motives. One of the main protagonists is Dr. Jekyll; I think that he comes off to us as a regular guy with a profession and normal social life having a several friends. To go off in this, I also like how we see a different kind of character in this gothic novel opposed to what we’re used to seeing such as in Frankenstein being the lonely and misunderstood child/ or person. Dr. Jekyll comes off as a chill and normal guy, not hateful towards society or outcasted, therefor that’s why I think that it would be interesting to reveal his hidden truths or secrets further into the book in way because there hidden. On the other hand Mr.Hyde is physically scary as what we expected, but doesn’t come off as harmful or evil at the moment.

I also like how many gothic literatures particularly the ones we have been reading in class have the person (human character/being) and then have the monster, creature or even an alter ego according to a few. It’s interesting that the physical monster has a piece of identity or trait of the other character.
