Frankenstein’s end

When the final chapter showed the creature mourning over the dead body of his creator, it seemed to me as Walton said, hypocritical. The creature intentionally led Victor on such a long and dangerous journey to torture him. So that Victor could experience physically dangerous situations, as the creature had undergone during his short time on earth. The creature named Victor his enemy, multiple times throughout the novel, and if there was so much hatred behind his actions why mourn over his final victim? He sent Victor on a long chase through harsh weather, in an attempt to prolong his journey to further leave Victor with pain and anguish. The harsh conditions the creature puts Victor through ultimately leads to Victor’s death and the creature later goes on a long rant and explains why he felt compelled to make Victor suffer. I had imagined that the creature would feel relief after Victor died. That such a self-absorbed man finally found death and he could never create another creature who would have to suffer in such a cruel world. I felt saddened to see that the creature would go off and kill himself, after all the terrible circumstances he had gone through. Perhaps it was because he felt so much disturbance after murdering all the innocent victims, that he felt the only way to remove those feelings was through a suicide. The creature decided to remove himself from a world that would never accept such deformities, without regarding him as a demon.
