This article touches on what causes climate change in the world. This information is given to persuade the audience to decrease their carbon footprint. A carbon footprint is “the amount of carbon dioxide and other carbon compounds emitted due to the consumption of fossil fuels by a particular person, group, etc.”.
The article states:
- “Temperatures are increasing: The most striking evidence of a climate change trend is closely scrutinized data that show a relatively rapid and widespread increase in temperature during the past century. Average temperatures in the United States over the last century have already increased by more than one degree Fahrenheit, and the Earth’s atmosphere has warmed by 1.5 degrees Fahrenheit since 1900.”
- “Sea ice is melting: Declining sea ice is one of the most visible signs of climate change on our planet. Since 1979, the Arctic sea ice extent in September (when the annual minimum is reached) has declined by more than 30 percent, according to the National Snow and Ice Data Center.”
The tone of this article is concerned. That is the tone because the article tries to show the reader what they see and make them pay attention to the changes in climate. The purpose of this article is to persuade and inform readers about climate change.

This article talks about how the climate change has already started to decimate the earth’s population of mammals . A mammal is a warm-blooded vertebrate animal of a class that is distinguished by the possession of hair or fur, the secretion of milk by females for the nourishment of the young, and (typically) the birth of live young.
The article states :
- “A survey of studies has determined that climate change has had a particularly dire effect on mammals and birds on the endangered species list. “
- “A team of researchers examined about 130 earlier studies. They found the range of animals now affected by climate change is broad, including animals on every continent. Particularly hard hit are animals with highly specialized diets and those that live in high altitudes. But, they found, even those with a wide range of diet are suffering from tremendous declines.”
The purpose of this article is to inform readers of how the climate has changed our environment and cause the population of mammals to decline and even cause some mammals to go extinct. In my opinion this to be sad, the world is a very beautiful place and the fact that we have manage to damage it this much is terrible. If there was a way for me to fix it all myself I would but sadly that’s not the case, we need everyone to be on board to preserve what’s left of earth’s beauty..
