“Micro-Activity #9: Analyzing the Declaration of Independence”

The Declaration of Independence is one of most important turning point documents in the history of the United States. The letter starts off with this paragraph introducing that people are desiring a separation, and stating how there are reasons for the purpose of separation. The second paragraph is indicating that all men are equal, hence British should not control them. Then goes on to list all the reasons why. It is a great way to organize because at first it gives the purpose of the letter, then goes on to list why they want it.

The document is very persuasive because it is very direct and honest about every crucial detail of the issue. It also states at the end that they had given warnings, giving a hint that the last chance was taken and if there is no change then it would lead to further actions.

One of the quotes on Randy Bernett’s article stood out to me is when he stated, “No government is perfect; all governments violate rights. This was well known.” I think this quote is significant and relevant to this day. It may be true that the government is not perfect but there are many improvements the government could make. Especially in the current event in the United States of America, we need a stronger government and there should be changes made in order to improve the lives of the people.

What are some areas where you believe improvement is needed? Or what are specific improvements you believe are needed? Thinking about this might help you think of areas that you can focus on for your annotated bibliography.
