When I read the syllabus, I noticed the learning outcomes are connected to what I learned in the last semester. First, reading and listening are for analyzing a variety of genres and rhetorical situations. Second, when you understand the context clearly, you can write a paper with various contexts and purposes. Third, research and citation skills help you to gather accurate information for the assignments and avoid plagiarizing someone’s work. Overall, I think English 1121 should be more advance in writing skills than English 1101. In addition, the core books at CUNY seem interesting to me because you said “Reading these texts will help us engage with broad humanistic questions that we will use to inspire our writing. As a result, I am looking forward to that.
