Hello everyone my name is Sean B and this is my second semester of college. I’m currently pursuing a business and technology major in fashion. I chose my major because I really want to be able to step into the Fashion industry with knowledge of the materials and business aspects of the industry. I like reading anything that’s about an adventure or something with suspense. I listen to a lot of music but mainly rap, R&B, pop, etc. I watch a lot of shows and currently as well as anime. I hope this class is as enjoyable as my last English course and I look forward to it.

Thank you Cerena um I’ve recently finished catching up with One Piece which is a super long one that is currently at episode 1007 but it’s definitely a great one. But Gintama is another great one it’s more comedic than anything but when it gets serious it’s actually great. Other than that any new stuff I’d recommend is Vinland Sage, JJK, and Attack on Titan.
I am a first-generation American-Jamaican currently working as a Graphic Designer. The lack of visual representation of successful black women in the design field (within my community) inspired me to become an Art Director. I believe that visual representation is a powerful tool in assisting those within the many underrepresented groups to see that they are more than their misrepresentations; to allow us to be a person, rather than caricatures of themselves. I feel that this should be the purpose of those who work in media, Design, and marketing. An Art Director could influence how the world views individual images of people and certain products, whether through the simple touch of color, music, or typography. We are bombarded with thousands of advertisements daily, and they remain our subconscious. Suppose most of what we see in media portrays one group of people positively while neglecting to attribute it to everyone else.

For Black History Month-2022, AFR celebrates Black women through performance, movement, and storytelling. It is through these mediums that AFR would like for us to consider the ways that Black women use their creative talents to honor their experiences, their lives, their (her)stories.
We have two signature events, one that is pre-recorded and will be available on the AFR website with Shanita Mitchell, an award-winning choreographer and dancer. Ms. Mitchell speaks about her passion for dance as it offers her a sense of freedom in an ever-changing and often overwhelming world. Our second event is a live book talk with Dr. Renata Ferdinand regarding her recently released book, An Autoethnography of African American Motherhood: Things I Tell My Daughter (sponsored by CUNY Academy for the Humanities and the Sciences). Hello, my name is Oddette. My academic interests are to become a nurse. I chose this career because I like to help people and I figured the best way to help people and help them get better is by becoming a nurse. I can have a little power and part in making someone be able to be themselves again. I don’t really read much but when I do I like to read mysteries or something funny. I enjoy listening to music, I like to watch shows that consist of drama, comedy, and horror. In my spare time I help my mom around the house, babysit my brother, play with my pet ferret and or relax while I have the chance.
I like helping others a lot as well but the way you are doing it is a lot better. It is a nice thing to do and many will appreciate what you do.
Mysteries–detective fiction in particular–is my preferred genre as well. I just read and enjoyed The Thursday Murder Club.

My names Alexsandra Severino. I’m majoring in Liberal Arts at the moment. I’m 27 (turning 28, February 8th!!) and chose to begin college later in life. I moved to the Brooklyn with creative goals in mind until Covid. I really enjoy acting and improving but decided to further my education in areas I’ve never focused on. I decided to enroll into school after getting my GED 11 years ago and it feels good to do something different. In life you should always push yourself out of your comfort zone.I’ve actually never been on campus for a class, so it will be a nice change after beginning school with only online classes.

Hello, my name is Juan Vela, this is my second semester in city tech. My major is emerging media and the reason I choose this major is because I had some interest in some of the things that were being taught in this major so I wanted to explore more like for example coding is something I find interesting. Coming out of this major I am hoping to understand coding even more and other things as well. In my spare time, I like to play video games and also go out to play soccer. I listen to any type of music that comes my way.

Hello! My name is Jelani Green and I am 22 years old. My major is Facilities Management with a concentration on Space Planning. I actually started out wanting to become a contractor but my interest has always geared toward doing something with my hands. When I got out of trade school for contracting I wanted to see what else I could put under my belt and decided to go with HVAC technician. In my free time when I am not trying to build my career, I sometimes read or play video games. I am currently reading Into the Wild by Jon Krakauer. Hip hop is mainly the genre I listen to but some days I like r&b, rock, indie, lofi, etc. I also work full time on top of school.

My name is Odalys Garcia and my current major in city tech is liberal arts. I am 18 years old and this is my second semester at city tech. I decided my major to be liberal arts because the truth is I’m not completely sure what I want to major in. Liberal arts seemed like a good option for me to get to learn more about what I’m interested in majoring in. I enjoy reading novels in my spare time. Some of the genres I read include fantasy, mystery, dystopian, contemporary, science fiction and some nonfiction books. I also enjoy painting which is a hobbie I became interested in during high school when I had to do an art class. I am very exciting to start this course and get to know everyone.
If you enjoy literature, you might consider taking a literature class as you fulfill your requirements. We have many different kinds of lit courses in the department, including a science fiction one.
Hello, everyone. My name is Hazeem Malik and this is my second semester here at City Tech. My major is computer science and I chose it because I believe that the future is going to be filled with newer and advanced technology. Also, this is a massively growing industry and there is a very steady job growth as well. My academic interests include anything that will help me with my future career, which would be mainly coding and solving problems. However, I believe you must master how to read and write to be successful in any job field.
My favorite hobby is playing basketball and hanging out with friends. I go to the gym almost every day and even play professionally in a league. Furthermore, I love watching movies and shows. My favorite series has to be all the Marvel movies and even the new shows they created. Personally, I do not enjoy reading that much because I am a visual learner and like to see things in actions, rather than words. I also love listening to music. My favorite artist is Drake, but I like all different genres of music. Lastly, I look forward to learning in this class and improving my writing and reading skills, as we go through this semester.
Our third project will include visual elements if you choose to go that route, so hopefully that will appeal to you.
Hi everyone, my name is Jerry and I will be majoring in computer information systems. I am interested in this ever since seventh grade when I have a class about coding. I am also interested in psychology because I want to learn more about the mind and human behaviors. I like to read anything that is related with mystery. I can listen to any kind of music and I like to watch horror films and anime. Some things I enjoy doing including taking naps, playing games, and going out for a walk. I am looking forwards to learn new things in this class.
I love mysteries too–but not horror. I like detective fiction, especially what is referred to as cozy mysteries.

Hey everyone, my name is Cristian (He/Him) and I am 22 years old doing my second semester majoring in Entertainment Technology. I picked this major because I am a musician and I wanted to have a back up plan if music doesn’t plan out but I know I still wanted to be involved in the entertainment industry somehow. Some things I enjoy doing in my free time is playing video games, watching YouTube videos, and playing guitar. I also enjoy listening to any type of music but I mainly lean towards rap and rock. I am excited to get started on my second semester at City Tech.

My name is Jeff Senatus and I’m currently in my second semester majoring in Nursing. I picked this major because I truly have a passion in helping others and providing healthcare to those in need. I currently am a certified NYS EMT working for FDNY and NYU Langone Hospital as well as Northwell Hospital in Lenox Hill. Being on the front lines during COVID-19 truly showed me what great pleasure it is to help those in need. Somethings I enjoy doing on my free time is going to the gym or picking up OT at work cause who doesn’t love extra money? LOL. I am curious to what this class brings me and hoping for a great semester !

I chose this major because I have always had a passion for construction and since middle school, I have been involved in many engineering academies. A hobby that I have is playing sports because growing up all I did was play and watch sports all the time. I also love listening to music since mostly all I do in my spare time is listen to music. Hello, everyone. My name is Meng Maolin. This is my third semester in college. As you can see, I’m an Asian boy, but I’m not good at math hahaha because I’m really bad at math. I chose computer Systems as my major in university, and I may not be as interested in it as I was before. If you ask me why I chose my major when I graduated from high school? I will tell you that I was very interested in computers at that time. Until I got to know the Computer System Major in college, it was so difficult that I couldn’t handle it. I might even change my major next semester because it was so difficult. I like playing computer in my spare time, watching movies, cartoons and playing games with my friends.

Hi everyone, my name is Mary Gallegos. I am 18 years old, began my second semester of college, and major in Health Sciences. I chose Health Sciences because I am interested in working within the medical field. I don’t have a favorite book genre, however, what does catch my eye are picture books. I like to learn visually since I am somewhat forgetful so I feel like if I can have something in front of me it’ll stay lodged in my brain. I enjoy listening to R&B, Rap, Alternative, indie pop, lo-fi pretty much anything. Some of my favorite shows at the moment are Locke & Key, and a couple of anime shows, my favorite movie is The Great Gatsby. What I enjoy doing in my spare time is hanging out with my friends and drawing, painting, and doing my makeup. Hey everyone, my name is Latrell, I’m 18 years old and my major is computer science. This is my second semester in city tech, but my first semester as a computer science major. My major last semester was electrical engineering. During my free time I like to go workout, watch some movies or tv shows, and play video games. I listen to a lot of music but I mainly listen to drill and rap music. I also play football, been playing it my whole life. I have dreams of going to the NFL, but if that doesn’t work out I would like to become a professional programmer.

Hi everyone! My name is Vence Jhon Benosa. I’m studying Radiologic Technology and Technical Imaging and I am in my second semester now. I chose this major because I like the idea of working in the medical field. I initially thought of doing nursing or medical assistant but I work in retail for nearly four years now and I observed that I don’t really like dealing with people. I guess my patience doesn’t really work well with everyone. I would rather work with machines than have to deal with stubborn people.
I enjoy playing strategic games such as mobile legends which is very similar to League of Legends. I also used to play survival games such as Fortnite. I’m a homebody but sometimes I like to go out with my brother or friends to take pictures around or find food places. I’ve been playing a lot since the beginning of the pandemic. Videogames have made a way for me to make friends. Unfortunately, I never get to see or meet my online friends but I hope I can make a few here at school who have the same vibe as mine especially now that everyone is back.

My name is Sarah Miah (she/her) and I’m a computer science major. I chose comp sci primarily because of my desire of obtaining financial independence and to fund my future education/ventures. I’m thinking about double majoring in something else but I haven’t quite made up my mind. I enjoy reading anything fiction. I’m a pretty avid reader and seeing my book pile grow are one of my great joys. Watching my nonfiction pile sit unread is not so great.
I enjoy listening to a variety of artists / genres ranging from musicals, punk, rap, indie and r&b. My favorite artists currently are Dominic Fike, King Princess and Santigold. I’ve also been listening to a psychiatry & psychotherapy podcast which has been pretty cool and educating. I have a habit of staying within my comfort zone and rewatching tv shows / movies but I’ve been attempting to venture out this past break. My go to’s have always been New Girl, Friends, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless mind and anything Marvel. I hope to gain better writing skills as well as make new friends this semester 🙂 I look forward to meeting you all and have a good one.
