Unit 1: Investigating a Discourse Community

Before writing my essay I had to make sure that it was written in a way that was going to be heard by a lot of people. And after some thought I thought the letter would be the best way to convey all my thoughts. I would be about to send my letter to the fans without someone not hearing it. A speech would have been at an event would most likely be a one time thing whereas the letter, my audience would be able to keep that and look back on it. I got this idea from the author Mary Wollstonecraft who wrote a “dedicatory letter” to A Vindication of the Rights of woman. I liked the way she spoke and kept her audience interested. So I followed her and wrote in the same format. When i was reading her letter i left like it was like she wrote it for me to listen, like she only was talking to me, And thats how i wanted my audience to feel

I love the idea that you felt like Wollstonecraft was speaking directly to you!
