The discourse community that I would like to write about is the online gamers community. I would like to write a letter to explain in todays world, we go through so many issue and people don’t realize how toxic it can really be.
One of the problems are how come these big companies know how little money we have especially during a pandemic. People will tell how there video games is there getaway to happiness and how will they every get to that when people cant even get there hands on the new consoles.
Another Problem, I could say is why do people in my discourse community always get picked for the villain in every situation. A white man walks into a school and shoots up the school, what is the first story the news is going to push? That video games was the cause of the shooting. A African American male gets shot in a not financially stable neighborhood, the first thing they are going to run with he was probably doing something terrible like he’s playing some type of in real life GTA and that way of thinking has to stop. My argument would strong because so many people can just relate to what I’m saying and the amount of evidence that can back it up.
Stephon- It seems to me that you are still trying to figure out you issue ad do not yet have an outline for your project. Also it is not clear if you are writing a letter or speech.
I agree that it is possible to make your problem the perception people have of gamers, but even that needs narrowing down. Which people will you address? Parents? Someone else? And what perception will you focus on? The idea that certain types of games are dangerous because they inspire violence? Finally, what will your purpose be? Do want to prove that these games are not actually connected to violent behavior? That there are benefits to these games? What? Speak with me tomorrow so we can make Sure you are on the right track with this assignment.
