Brainstorming Discourse Communities and Research

I choose video gamers as my discourse community. One of the problems with video gamers as a discourse community is the gamer get easily get addicted to the game that they are playing. People who are against video games will make the problem available to outsiders by talking to friends. The strategies too bring this problem to light is to have a meeting. The people that needs to know about video gamers are facing an addiction are parents, loved ones, and doctors. I would tell parents, loved ones, and doctors about the problems because they will find the right kind of help they need too get better and the same problem doesn’t happen the someone else. People who are addictive to video games do not really interact with people physical anymore because they are just basically staring at a screen all the time.

    I know we have talked about this and that you feel like those addicted to video games is your discourse community, but I’m still not clear on what issue video game addicts deal with that you want people on the outside to know about.
    Why do you say, “People who are against video games will make the problem available to outsiders by talking to friends.” What does this have to do with those who are are part of the discourse community?
    I could imagine that as someone who has experienced video game addiction, you might want to tell those who do not understand the problem, what is actually helpful. Or maybe you want to tell those on the outside what it feels like or fix some misconception that the average person has about video game addicts. But right now it is not clear what issue you are writing about.

      Video games can be helpful by being used as a therapy for someone’s mental health.
