Brainstorming discourse communities and research

The discourse community that I am in is being an mma fighter. Obviously being a fighter, injuries are just part of the sport, thankfully the worst I have had is getting cauliflower ear, which I think is pretty cool anyways. But right now I’m talking about the pros, the ones that aren’t amateurs in the sport, the ones that are on the big screens selling out arenas. A main issue they face is their health care when fighting under Dana Whites franchise.with the amount of money he makes on these fights he is able to give his fighters some of the best health care but in reality the get nothing.

What they do get is an early retirement if they have serious injuries with no benefits. And any minor injury fighters have to pay out of pocket to go seek help. It’s very easy for White to make changes to keep his fighter safe and healthy. Have them get regular check up and make sure mentaly there ok. That would be a first step into fixing what is going on with these fighters.

But what’s crazy is that the UFC is new and it’s growing rapidly but it’s not the first sport that had/has these issues. If you look at the NFL there are a lot of injuries but the way they fix or address the issue is amazing. They stop the game, have medics on the sidelines at all times and make sure the player is ok. Obviously in mma you wouldnt stop the fight is someone is still willing to fight with these injuries but instead of saying “after the fight call an ambulance for this guy” have them there and ready to treat the fighter. The sport is already super popular and like i said growing at a rapid rate but  with changes with the health care the fighters you will see more and more people playing the sport

This is all clear and great. The only issue is that the problem you see is for a group you do not seem to be part of. If I’m understanding correctly, you are an amateur and you are discussing professionals. However, I think it might still work. Come have a quick conversation with me after class tomorrow.
