MODEL COURSES

In the summer of 2020, three facets of First-Year Writing (Mainstream FYW, the co-requisite and the 1101 Core Books Curriculum gathered to create Model Courses that fulfill our learning outcomes, promote the transfer of knowledge and are engaging to students. We developed Model Courses that faculty can clone and use, complete with assignments and lesson plans, to facilitate online engagement and learning.  These can be found here:

The FYW Model Course Hub  has all course materials for mainstream 1101and mainstream 1121

The model course for the 1101 Co-Requisite is now updated as well. You can adapt the course for a mainstream 1101 if you like.

For the Core Books Model Courses, the updated materials have been uploaded to both OpenLab and Blackboard, and you can clone from either platform.

  • OpenLab users can go directly to ENG 1101 Core Books Model Course and ENG 1121 Core Books Model Course. Or you can find both through the First Year Writing Model Course HUB.
  • Blackboard users should contact Evelyn Pak (EPak@citytech.cuny.eduin the Blackboard office, and let her know the course you wish to clone (ENG 1101 Core Books or ENG 1121 Core Books) and your EMPLID.  Please cc Ruth as well when you email Evelyn.  Here is general information on how to clone a Blackboard course.
