Navigate is a database system that provides student information, facilitates communication, and allows for early-intervention student reporting for faculty and staff. You can log into the CUNY Navigate system using your CUNYFirst login information.
Alert Reporting and Intervention System
If a student in your class is struggling, whether academically (missing numerous assignments, racking up excessive absences, etc.) or in any other way (mental health, food insecurity, etc.), you can use Navigate to issue a report on that student that will connect them with college resources via the Student Success Center.
If you have a student who is struggling, the best first step is communicating with that student directly. If that doesnāt produce results, or if the student has issues outside of the scope of your powers or responsibilities, then issue an alert using Navigate. The students will receive an auto-generated message from you cc-ing the Student Success Center, which will follow up with the student and help connect them with appropriate support or resources. You will get a follow-up message on Navigate when the issue has been resolved. (Note that you will not get full information about the actions taken or the services the student does or does not receive.)
You can also use this alert system to send students a āhigh fiveā message praising a student for their performance.
