The discourse community I’ve chosen to write about is the Automotive Enthusiast community and the rising issues of “takeovers” and street racing that have led to untimely deaths and the oppression of enthusiasts by law enforcement and other people. There is also constant infighting between sub-communities who may be fans of certain vehicles, against certain trends or just trying to create issues within the greater community itself.
The discourse community that I have chosen is the Sinhala cultural community, which is the majority ethnic group in Sri Lanka. And I will be describing it’s rituals and practices that are unique to the community.
The discourse community that I have chosen to write about is Pre-Nursing students and the rituals and practices we utilize to optimize studying as well as communicate effectively during class. I will be writing it in a letter format informing and letting someone know the different ways this presents itself in everyday classroom activities as well as studying independently.
The discourse community that I’ve chosen to write about for my Unit 1 Assignment is NYCHA New York City Housing Authority. I will be writing a letter to the residents of NYCHA buildings, making them aware of Lead Poisoning. Explaining what it is and how it’s harmful to health, especially to children.
