I am preparing for my first semester of college by talking to my parents about it and by looking more into what I am majoring in. I’m still really nervous but at the same time I’m excited to attend college.
You should take advantage of the student success center, so they can guide you and help you through your process. I wish you the best in college and hope it all works out for you.
It’s normal to be nervous yet excited, I feel the same way so you’re not alone. The college’s website has some really useful things regarding majors and their requirements.
Hi Asaele,
I agree with Anthony and Parbatti. Its completely normal to feel both nervous and excited about starting college. You’re doing a great job by taking these steps to prepare yourself. Keep up the good work, and remember that feeling a mix of emotions is part of the journey!
When thinking about college, I didn’t care where I went to school as long as I was doing something in the business major until I came to the open house in October. I enjoyed going around the school and getting to know some teachers as well as the school and what they offered in the business major which made me want to reconsider and commit to city tech.
with now having an idea of what I would learn, I’m going to try and prepare myself and do further research to have some idea of the course going into my major
Hi Geraldine,
I’m glad to hear that attending the open house helped you connect with City Tech and the business major. Meeting teachers and exploring the school’s offerings can make a big difference. As you prepare, I recommend checking out the City Tech website for resources related to your major, joining relevant student organizations/clubs, and reaching out to professors or advisors for guidance. Doing further research on your courses is a great step. Nice post!
I’m preparing to be a City Tech student by attending other new student workshops and tours. I will also take advantage of all the opportunities and programs offered by City Tech, such as the student success center. Furthermore, in my classes in the upcoming semester, I want to get to know at least one person from all my classes. That way I can practice making more conversation with people and also can ensure I have someone I can ask for help.
Hi Ant,
You’re on the right track by attending workshops and planning to utilize the student success center. My advice is to also consider joining study groups or student clubs related to your major for additional support and networking opportunities. Participating in campus events can also help you connect with more people. Keep up the great work, and don’t hesitate to reach out to professors and advisors for guidance. Nice post!
I’m preparing to be a City Tech student by making the effort to go on the website to learn more about the classes, programs, and other resources and opportunities that City Tech provides. I am also checking my emails multiple times a day, checking my schedule to see if anything changed, and I am planning to go to the freshman orientation and the connection day in August.
Those are good discipline that you are trying to establish. I wish you the best !
Hi Parbatti,
It’s fantastic that you’re proactively learning about City Tech through the website and staying on top of your emails and schedule. Attending freshman orientation and Connection Day is a great way to start off strong. For additional preparation, you might also consider reaching out to any professors or advisors ahead of time to ask about course materials or expectations. Keep up the great work, and enjoy your upcoming semester
I am preparing for my first semester at City Tech using all the resources listed on the website and what I’ve learned from the CTE101 workshop this week. I am also getting used to checking my email constantly to ensure I don’t miss out on any upcoming events. I plan on looking at any clubs to see if any peak my interest so I could be apart of the community and not just a college student.
Hi Kamaro,
It sounds like you have a plan. Look out for an email about club fair beginning of the semester, I’m sure you will find clubs that matches your interests. Keep up the good work!
I am preparing for my first semester at city tech by cleaning out my bag BEFORE the first day, and strengthening my knowledge on code and computers. I was always known for being disorganized (and a clown) which probably isn’t a good match for computer engineering (or computers in general) but computers = money so I’m gonna lock in.
You have a great sense of humor! It’s also very good that you will be holding yourself accountable so that you can of course succeed.
I am preparing for my first semester by making sure im aware of all the available resources at city tech. I’m still a little unsure about a few stuff but I will go to the student success center to ensure i get answers to my questions. I’ll connect with the city tech community by looking at the clubs they offer and seeing if they meet any of my interests.
Having questions and asking them is much better than keeping them to yourself. I’m glad to know that you plan on reaching out through the student success center! They will be more than happy to help you.
My preparation for my first semester at City Tech is pretty easy. I’m trying to get myself on track by coming to workshops, staying on track with all I’ve got to do. I’m trying to put it together financially, and prepare my brain for what’s coming ahead. I intend to exploit every opportunities that City Tech provides for new students like me such as student success center and so much more so I can blend in the transition of college more smoothly. I hope to find a great community which I will be growing my knowledge with.
Showing up is one of the first steps to creating a strong foundation for yourself. I am happy that you attended our CT101 workshop and I hope you continue to push yourself so that you can continue to stay on track as you said. Make sure to not put all your worries or stress onto yourself, you have people here who can help you manage them whenever you need that.
I’m preparing to be a City Tech student by joining and participating in the CT101 workshop, and befriending the people in our class. I’m also preparing to be City Tech student by following the Student Success Center on Instagram, basically any school program that brings together a community, I’m willing to join and be apart of.
I saw how well you did at making conversation, participating and even putting in the effort to get to know other students in our CT101 workshop. I really hope that the workshop helped you in your transition from high school to college. You’ll do great here at City Tech!
Im preparing to be a student at CityTech by participating in as many clubs/communities as possible. Doing so will allow me to be more involved around the school and hopefully be able to make things better for those around me.
Clubs are a great way to get to know people! You’ll likely find people who share the same interests as you depending on what clubs you think you’d like to try to be a part of.
Preparing to be a college student is one of the hardest things i have ever done.I will be the first one to attend college in my whole family, so it’s up to me when navigating around all of it. From filling out Financial aid forms to trying to study, it all makes me feel like a superhero during their midlife crisis. This class CT101 helped me so much. I would be so lost without attending this.
Hi Samaya,
It’s completely understandable to feel overwhelmed, but it’s great that CT101 has been a helpful resource for you. Remember, you’re not alone—there are plenty of resources and support systems at City Tech to help you along the way. Keep up the great work, and don’t hesitate to reach out for help whenever you need it!
I’m preparing for college not only mentally but physically. I’m ready to make sure that i’m setting myself up for success no matter how exhausting it may be. I’m prepared to get my degree.
