One thing I would want my classmates to know about me is that I’m a very hard worker and I care about my grades. My goals as a college student is to float around an average of 85-93 for all my classes. I chose City Tech because I love technology and I know City Tech is one of the best tech schools in the city. In my first semester I hope I learn how to use all the available resources city tech has to offer.

      Hi Kamaro,

Welcome to City Tech! Those are amazing goals to have. City Tech has many resources but it’s important to know them in order for these resources to be useful to you. You’ll learn about them in CT101 and in your college experience.

      Hi Asaele,

That’s amazing! Having good habits can help you in the long run especially in college. You can always visit the Atrium Learning Center in the ground floor for math tutoring and questions.

My name is Anthony Calixto, and my current major is electrical engineering. I chose city tech because I attended an open house and was impressed with the overview of their electrical engineering program. I also live 30 minutes away and have a cousin that attends there. A major goal I have before I start the fall semester is to get comfortable with the school and learn my way around. I hope to get at least a B as my overall average for the first semester.

    • Nazia Mahmud

      Hi Anthony,

Glad you had an amazing experience at the open house and liked the electrical engineering program. I hope to see you at the tour as it can help get to know the campus. Nice post!

    1. I prefer to work alone
    2. At first, I didn’t care where I went to school until I came to the open house, I enjoyed going around the school and getting to know some teachers made me want to commit to this school

      Hi Geraldine,

Working alone has it’s own benefits. I am glad you had positive experience at the open house.

  6. Parbatti B

My goals as a college student are to graduate with a high GPA, to graduate in 4 years or less (preferably less), and to make some loyal, laughter filled friendships along the way that will hopefully last a lifetime. I chose City Tech because it was the only college in CUNY that had my major, easier to get to compared to high school, and it was affordable. I hope to learn in my first semester how to successfully manage my time so that I can prevent some stress than can easily be avoided. I want to also learn about the opportunities City Tech has to offer. One last thing, I wanted to be honest and share that I am honestly not truly interested in my major. I only chose it because I know it is a steady field to be in, I know it guarantees a high paying job, and I dealt with technology as my major in high school for 3 years. I know there are other people in somewhat of the same boat as me but I don’t personally know anyone so I thought it’d be helpful in some way to share that.

    • Sindy Ariza

Parbatti, you gave an interesting and detailed response that really allows for myself and others to get to know you a bit more. Your goals sound great especially considering how you include your social life into your college life. Graduating in less than 4 years sounds like the ideal path but it won’t make you less of a great student if that doesn’t work out in your favor. You can always talk to an advisor and plan ahead to see what you can do. You will learn so much in your time here at City Tech. The same way you will learn so much related to your education, like building good habits and finding opportunities, you will also learn with time what major you feel more sure of for yourself. Just like you said there are other people who will be in the same boat and that’s perfectly okay! If you have more questions specific to your major then I can guide you to speak with an advisor or research other options.

  7. Samaya

I would like my classmates to know that I am very attentive, very aware, and basically Batman but a girl. Some goals I have for my first semester are to be punctual, stay engaged, and push my limits. I ended up coming to City tech because it is convenient for my circumstances.

    • Sindy Ariza

Comparing yourself to Batman was a funny way to describe yourself and I can also see why you said that. I think you have wonderful goals for yourself and that you are capable of reaching them here at City Tech! Just remember that there are people here happy to help, including your peer mentors.

I want my classmates to know that I enjoy listening to music and I’m open to listening all music recommendations. I also enjoy art, anime, and trying out different hobbies; I love plushies. My goals as a student is to do my best to succeed in my classes. I choose CityTech because it was far from my home and they have an architectural technology program. In my first year, I hope to learn more about the math involved when it comes to scaling models so that I can have more accuracy building my house plans in the Sim or Roblox.

    • Sindy Ariza

Love the fact that you want to learn more math for Sims or Roblox, that’s not what I was expecting at all. I don’t play either of those games but I do enjoy taking music recommendations as well. Succeeding in class is a great goal to have as a student and there are several ways to get to success. Using the resources City Tech has to offer is one way to start.

  10. gplaisance

People say I seem very mean or agressive, but I’m really not, just very quite and laid back. My goal as a college student is to finish it on time with a B minimum because I want to make my grandma proud. I chose City Tech because it’s close to home, my friends and family. Only thing I find truly important about me is my love for volleyball, it’s my one true passion.

    • Sindy Ariza

You seem true to yourself as far as I can tell from your response and that is a good quality to have. It is also admirable that you want to make your family proud. Times will get hard here in college but don’t forget that you have support and resources in school to keep pushing through.

  11. Abdourahmane Diallo

I chose City Tech because it aligned with all my interests. I hope I learn how to actively engage in my classes while juggling a busy life schedule.

    • Sindy Ariza

I think that’s a great plan and I hope it works out! A busy life schedule is normal especially in college so know that you’re not alone.

One thing I would want my classmates to know about me is I’m a very self aware person so I can admit when I make a mistake. My goal as a college student is to make sure I take care of myself while staying on top of my school work. I chose City Tech because it wasn’t too far and I heard great things about the school. One thing I hope to learn this first semester is time management skills and making sure I meet my professor’s due date.

    • Sindy Ariza

Great goals! You’ll learn a lot about balance with more time here. Thankfully there are so many people here willing to help you if you ever need more of a support system

  14. Mohamed alkutaini

I would like to share with my classmates that I am a hard-working student who has a bad memory when it comes to things like homework or having to do something for someone I dont care for. I forget till the last minute or you may remind me but if connect that won’t be a problem for me. My goal in life is to tell my parents to buy a house for only them and tell pops he doesn’t need to go to work anymore and I want to be richest man in my heart but not in wealth since greed can destroy a person life and I don’t want that in my life and just want to be successful as a young entrepreneur I chose city tech because I believe that it can help me guide me to be successful in communication with people and help me make split second decisions and the environment is what I believe is needed to make that happen that not many other places have.

    • Sindy Ariza

I highly recommend writing down your assignments/due dates to help you with memorization. You don’t want to fall behind so writing things down or even printing the syllabus will be very useful especially with the workload from different classes overlapping. I admire your goals and I hope that you reach them!
