Tight Pencil Sketch
- Decide on your strongest concept sketch with your Art Director.
- Refine your design based on feedback and suggestions you received.
- Strengthen your drawing by using photo references.
- Finalize the pencil drawing.
- Use a printer/ copier to enlarge drawings and reference materials.
- Use a lightbox or graphite transfer paper to transfer drawings.
- Draw final art on Bristol board.
- Work at approximately 50% larger than the final art size.
- Do not shade your drawing. Focus on drawing clean line art only.
- Photocopy (or scan & print out) at least 4 copies of your final drawing:
- 2 copies at 50% scale (these would be true to size for the final product.)

High-resolution (300 DPI ), easy-to-read scan of your Tight Pencil Sketch. This should be the last drawing before ink.
AS DISCUSSED NEATNESS COUNTS.
Be prepared to share your Pinterest board of reference images during in-class critique, along with any additional sketches you may have done.
DON’T FORGET THE PHOTOCOPIES – YOU WILL NEED THESE FOR CLASS!
