Pattern and Rule of Thirds – Jonathan B.

Rule of Thirds

Rule of thirds is represented in this photo as the main subject is on the rule of thirds grid. Having an object within this grid immediately allows for interesting shots to be captured as they help guide subjects of importance away from the borders of the photo and from the middle of the photo. I chose this photo because I thought the colors and the contrast from the subject and the background were really interesting.

Pattern

This photo showcases pattern as there’s an array of horizontal lines in the composition that follow and flow with each other. I chose this photo to represent pattern as it’s difficult to tell where this texture was derived from and it looks unnatural compared to other patterns people usually take.

Your rule of thirds example is lovely. the close dark tones in the background are especially pleasing.

Patterns can be found everywhere, esp if you get close to the subject.
