Jeremy Eisner, Learning Log One: What makes a great photograph?

A great photograph most likely would consist of a focus on one or more people, places, or other things. The composition of the photograph should allow for there to be a balance between the focused person or object and the background itself. The photo should provide the viewer some sort of story or incentive to keep them interested in the photo. Whether it is of a person with a lot of emotion on their face or bodies, or a beautiful image of a place around the world, the image has to give the viewer something enticing to look at. A good photo sheds light on a theme or time period and creates a symbol of the average life of the people at the time it was taken.

Well stated. The photographer entices the viewer to look his or her image with either composition or content. There is a lot of competition out there with 60 million photos uploaded to Instagram daily.
