  • Please come to class next class meeting with at least nine (9) sketches in pencil or pen. You will share your sketches. Draw with as much or as little detail as you like.
  • Contour drawing, is an artistic technique used in the field of art in which the artist sketches the contour of a subject by drawing lines that result in a drawing that is essentially an outline; the French word contour meaning, “outline.” (definition via google)
  • 3 sketches of a food
  • 3 sketches of an animal
  • 3 sketches of an inanimate object
  • These should be contour drawings NOT blind contour drawings. Just try to capture the form and volume of your subjects and don’t worry about any shading or anything like that.
  • Pick one of each of the sketches to scan or photograph and trace in illustrator. The illustrator version should emphasize using closed objects, not just stray line segments to create the finished illustration.
