Unit 3 Proposal

I want to teach my audience the advantages of expanding student’s freedom in the classroom and how allowing them to chose what they want to learn and focus on will make their learning more exciting and helpful. The most important thing I learned that I want to teach is how a change like this will make education extremely joyful so students won’t have to be bored with what classes usually consists of, as well as the fact that switching up usual things can make things more exciting especially in the classroom. My target audience is mainly the government because they control mainly everything in society and make things active, they are the head officials when it comes to the education system so to get the word out to them will definitely put us forward into reform in our education. The genre I plan to write this in a non-written document like an interview or an article depending on how the process goes, I feel this genre is the most realistic and beneficial for the audience to be in favor of with hearing how the real world feels about letting students having a say of their learning. I plan to get started by introducing my topic the best way to get the audience’s attention to already get them interested in what they’re about to encounter when reading my writing, maybe with a statistic or a theoretical question. I would be worried about my genre not working out while I’m already working on my writing, life if I have second-guesses about my topic or genre maybe wanting to change it or even writing something over I don’t feel makes sense. My concerns on finishing this project is will it exceed my expectations and what I planned in the first place? Or will this impress my target audience so it can help my writing complete its purpose for change?

I see that you have a great concern for the freedom of students to choose what they want to learn and focus on. I feel that you want to change the educational narrative from a boring 7 hours a day to a fun and exciting 7 hours a day. This particular site called the Edadvocate.org engages in such topics. It is a website for educators who are trying to improve the system of education. Your target audience which is the government could be narrowed down to a more specific department of the government which is the Department of Education (DOE). This will allow for a more direct conversation and is more likely to cause an impact if they accept your ideas. Maybe you could post your non-written document on YouTube or a digital news platform which covers the latest trending news on video format. This can help broaden the impact of your ideology and help people find out that there is an individual who wants to change the educational narrative. What I found interesting in your proposal is providing statistics for this topic, it would be very intriguing to find out what kind of statistics you incorporate in your document.

There are two extreme views on what education should be like. Some say that everybody has to study the same curriculum, whereas others say that everyone is free to choose whatever subject they want. In my opinion, both approaches are flawed. On the one hand, every person has different needs and abilities. For example, some people are good at mathematics, while others are good at humanities.
Furthermore, not everybody will need the same knowledge in their lives. On the other hand, there has to be a core curriculum that everybody needs to know to function in society. Everybody needs to know how to read, write, or count. We also need to have some foundation in humanities such as history or civics. So the truth lies somewhere in between.
What you are saying is an interesting idea. You can write a letter to the Department of Education to sell your thoughts; maybe you can push the envelope so they might consider something that you say.
Unlike people in the former Soviet Union or North Korea, one has the freedom and can always study what he or she likes. Nowadays, there are so many available private tutors online to choose from who offer to teach different subjects; everybody can still take advantage of this.

May i ask what made you so intrigued by this topic ? Is it a topic that hit home for you ?
I can tell by your response , that this subject is really a great concern of yours. I really like the fact that you chose something you can possibly relate to and want to voice your opinions on it. Freedom of students , especially when it comes to choosing what they want to learn and focus on is really intriguing. It is every students wish. What aspect are you focusing on ? is it the long boring hours of school or the curriculum that instructors follow? I am really eager to read. However, i believe your target audience , should be students, instructors and people who manage schools and create learning curriculum for students, that way your message is receive the proper way. This will provide an opportunity for students to voice their opinions, instructors as well. A non written argument/document such as instagram or youtube, anywhere you can create a video and post , voicing your opinions on the subject.
