Career Development – DOB Scholars

NYC DOB Scholars | The program aims to expose students to the wide range of career opportunities within the DOB, while, at the same time, demonstrating the necessity of our multifaceted work for public safety.

The program consists of 10 seminars over the course of the semester. Each week, DOB architects, engineers, sustainability experts, construction inspectors, and Borough Commissioners present on the work of their individual units/departments. In addition to the seminar series, students will have access to networking opportunities and professional development workshops such as resume writing, and receive a Certificate of Completion from the Agency for their resumes.

The Professional Development Center (PDC) – Career Services has partnered with – Handshake – a modern platform connecting City Tech students to employers recruiting college talent. PDC launched this new platform to City Tech students and alumni this past August. City Tech students can search and apply for internships, fellowships, part-time and full-positions. Students may also use Handshake to:

• Upload a resume and complete a Handshake online profile • Make your profile and resume viewable to employers • View and learn about employers by attending career events and informational sessions • Search for and apply to open positions

“Brooklyn Navy Yard + Governors Island Real Estate Fellowship Program: The Real Estate Fellowship Program will match current CUNY undergraduates with a deep, one-year work fellowship with the Brooklyn Navy Yard Development Corporation or the Trust for Governors Island.Through the one year experience, students will gain direct real estate work experience and personal work products, develop on-the-job professional and technical skills, and build a network of real estate professionals.
