Civil Engineering Technology Technician

Archidata Services | We are a Manhattan firm that provides 3D scanning and computer-aided design services to architects, engineers, and builders. We specialize in providing accurate and reliable as-built building surveys, 3D laser scanning, Revit modeling (BIM), and AutoCAD drafting. We are looking for a Civil Engineering Technology Technician to conduct 3D laser scanning and architectural field work across NYC. We will train the right person who is passionate about technical work and eager to learn.

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Operate technical 3D laser scanners to measure buildings (residential and commercial).
  • Troubleshoot any mechanical and technical issues with equipment and lighting on site.
  • Photograph job site areas and organize photos.
  • Able and willing to learn new software and new technologies.
  • Deliver excellent customer service; interact effectively with customers at field sites.
  • Maintain equipment; keep equipment clean and ready for use.

In this role, you’ll need:

  • An Associate’s Degree in Civil Engineering Technology and/or Construction Management is preferred. A Construction Management Certificate would be considered.
  • To be an effective communicator who enjoys connecting with customers and team members one-on one and in small groups.
  • Proficient with technology including smart phones, computers and tablets.
  • Ability to lift up to 75 pounds and work in a variety of environmental conditions that are weather and non-weather related.
  • Military experience is not required, but it is welcome and appreciated here.

Students are connected to Brooklyn Navy Yard-based businesses according to their future career interests, skill sets, and educational background. 

Internship Details: 

  • The 8-week fall internship will begin on Monday, September 20th and will end on Friday, November 19th
  • All accepted interns must commit to a part-time, 20-hours per week work schedule. This totals to 160 paid hours for the internship. All interns are compensated at $15/hour by BNYDC.
  • We are balancing remote work with in-person opportunities, based on health requirements and individual preferences.

NYC DOB Scholars Program

NYC DOB Scholars | The program aims to expose students to the wide range of career opportunities within the DOB,
while, at the same time, demonstrating the necessity of our multifaceted work for public safety.

The DOB Scholars Program is an in-depth curriculum and career development program for CUNY students interested in engineering, architecture, sustainability and energy management, construction management, construction trades, inspection, government administration, and public safety. The program consists of 10 seminars over the course of the semester. Each week, DOB architects, engineers, sustainability experts, construction inspectors, and Borough Commissioners present on the work of their individual units/departments. In addition to the seminar series, students will have access to networking opportunities and professional development workshops such as resume writing, and receive a Certificate of Completion from the Agency for their resumes.
