To-Do After Class

  • Reading 1 
    • Refer to the reading list on the ARCH 1231 Course Hub for specific pages
    • Submit scanned + formatted Reading Notes+ Sketches
    • In addition to your notes + sketches, be sure to reflect on and answer the following questions: 
      • How does the book define architecture? 
      • How does that compare / contrast with my own understanding of architecture?
    • Due Friday September 10, 12pm (post to Miro)
  • Module I: Case Study Building – Federal Hall
    • Visit Federal Hall on your own some time in the next 2 weeks
    • Take a selfie in front of the building so I know you were there
    • Produce 3 sketches of the building while you are there
      • At least one overall sketch (elevation or perspective of the building)
      • At least one detail sketch (could be any details you choose)
      • Third sketch is up to you
    • Due Friday September 10, 12pm (post to Miro)
  • Module I: Case Study Building – Plan Geometry Diagram
    • Study the first floor plan of Federal Hall
    • On the Miro board, produce a diagram breaking the floor plan down into its key geometric forms
      • This is just a first pass, so experimentation is encouraged!
