HW#2 Food and Coffee during the Civil War

It is beyond imaginable what soldiers go through during the time of war, prior to this assignment I never even thought about what the soldiers would eat, let alone have the time to eat. Does a group of them sit out and eat together while their comrades protect them? Do they take a bite, shoot a bullet, reload, take another bite? These two articles brought to light the kind of diet these soldiers were on and the significance of coffee at the time of war really surprised me. Coffee was the main export in my country, Yemen, for decades and it was discovered by accident before making a fortune. The word mocha is actually derived from a city in Yemen named Ű§Ù„Ù…ŰźŰ§ŰĄ which really struck me because the discovery also happened at a time of war. Especially statements such as “Nobody can ‘soldier’ without coffee.”or “This image requires alt text, but the alt text is currently blank. Either add alt text or mark the image as decorative.Others went further, considering coffee a weapon of war.”

Although I have worked at a coffee shop, I would give up coffee any day for a plate of chicken over rice.
