The thing about the soldier’s diet I found most interesting was hardtack. Maybe it’s the way it looks or the history behind it, but I honestly wanted to know more about it. Hardtack is pretty much a cracker that isn’t flat; so, it’s much like hard bread I would imagine. Apparently military soldiers sort of liked it and it was a solution to the shortage of food since it was so easy to make. I guess when you are really hungry something as simple as Hardtack must be a godsend even if I doesn’t taste that good. My favorite food is probably a sandwich made with grilled chicken.
