In my opinion, I think donāt think art should be put into the same category as social media. Art is an individuals skills and imaginations expressing itself. There are people out in the world who have a hard time using their voice to be heard, or even being able to express themselves. I myself have a very hard time. Art gives someone a chance to let out whatever they may be feeling. Any creativity building inside of a very coy person, gets shown. Art does not judge you, art is someones own work, someones skills being shown, someones thoughts, someones beliefs, its their own. Social media may be a great place to show off ones talents and or aesthetic. Social media has the word āSocialā in it. Obviously. What I am trying to say is that society on social media are all a form of decoys. People do not post their deep feelings for another, or the rage they are feeling at the moment. Society lets you see, what can be shown.
A selfie is a picture that can be taken on most phones and can either lower your self esteem, or boost it. View it the way you want. Selfies can easily be photoshopped or filtered. People may think they are a work of art, but I believe that in person its easier to be considered called ā Artā. One can express themselves better in person, you can get the real impression. Not an imposter. However, over social media it is a mockery. Instagram provides artificial āArtā or no art at all. I may not have the skill to draw a simple flower, but I consider myself an artist. I make documentaries. My recent one is about bullying. I take my thoughts, my feelings, my experiences and I make them into videos that can help another, in any way possible. I use film, to express myself. That is my art. Social media is just a mask. I let people see what I want them to see.
