  • Size: 5in x 7in; single side (no need to include mailing information)
  • Create a postcard with a collage of several photos (3-5) depicting the spring season—the things that represent spring.
  • Include the title: Enjoy Springtime in New York
  • Consider the techniques reviewed during class demo.
  • Find photos from the websites listed in the resource section below.
  • Save your file with the name: 10_LastnameFirstInitial_collage.psd (Photoshop file) Upload your file as a .PSD file. DO NOT FLATTEN YOUR FILES. I WANT TO SEE THE LAYERS OF YOUR WORK.
  • Upload the file to the Google Drive folder.

Colorizing and Loading Selections in PS

Today, we will discuss loading Selections and Colorizing in Photoshop. 

After isolating Black Lines, new layers can be created to paint on independently using various brushes techniques.

Critique

Each week we will review homework assignments from the previous class. Students will participate in reviewing material and offering suggestions for improvement for their cohort. Students will present their composite project. Save it as a layered native .psd file.

Lab

1- Lab assignments are done during class time.

  • Practice Loading the Selection to isolate “black Lines” on an individual layer in the files provided.
  • Practice the coloring techniques using one of the jpeg files in the DOWLOAD folder.

2- We will do the begin Project #2 – Photo composite from last week that we didn’t get to.

Discussion

Each week you will need to respond to two questions posted. This is a requirement for participation part of your grade.

Homework Due Next Class (May 1): 

All work should be submitted by 5:00pm the day before class.

When this is finished, save the file cording to the following naming convention: 11_LastNameFirstInitial_coloring.psd (Photoshop with layers).

  • Create your own hand drawing using a pad and pencil or pen. Scan it or photograph it to create a digital version. Use the brush techniques from today’s lesson to colorize your drawing on a separate layer or layers. Use brush techniques to create shadows and highlights with brush settings.
  • Upload file to the Google Drive folder.
