Critique

Each week we will review homework assignments from the previous class. Students will participate in reviewing the colorized images in Photoshop. Pay attention to details used with brushes to create highlights and shadows. Changes to the color mode should also be noticed.

Introduction of the Final Project

  • Create a self-portrait where, through conceptual planning and technical execution, create an alter-ego of yourself.
  • Sketch ideas, write a description of the alter-ego that includes a backstory (origin and worldbuilding (the imaginary world of your character). The backstory describes who this alter ego is compared to who you are now. Your backstory should be a minimum of 300 words.
  • Backstory = a history or background, especially one created for a fictional character in a motion picture or television program.
  • Plan and shoot a photo of yourself to use as a source image and, using raster and vector tools, create a complete composition using type and image.

Lab assignments are done during class time.

  • Experiment with the different filters
