- Fri 1/28: Intro video lesson is live! Set-up and introductions
This week we’ll be saying hello, getting to know each other and the course tools, and thinking about what Technical Writing involves. And it’s not just manuals and reports, either. It’s about communicating information of all kinds to different audiences, and making choices along the way about how best to do that.
The deadlines are when I absolutely check in and check off who’s gotten things done. As always, if you’re having trouble, send me a text on Slack or email me.
- Mon 1/31:
- Join OpenLab, Slack, and Perusall. Here’s the Perusall code: BLAIN-9Y6MR
- Perusall: Read and annotate two things:
- What is Technical Writing?
- Thinking about Writing/Audience (there are two chapters here so be sure to scroll down to the second one)
- Be sure to answer the prompts at the end of each reading. You’ll find them with a loudspeaker in front of the question. Be thoughtful. Respond to each other by using @.
- Thur 2/3:
- Padlet: Put your name in the Subject line. Then introduce yourself, and be sure to add a visual element. Once you leave your own introduction, check out other people and leave comments. Be sure to respond to at least two other people. Let’s get to know each other!
- Email: Introduce yourself to Professor Blain (whatever information you want to share), and attach the Team Project Individual Assessment Sheet which is below (we’ll use this for the Team projects starting Week Nine). Send to DBlain@citytech.cuny.edu
