I’ve chosen that boxing will be the subject of my feature article. I chose boxing as my beat because there are so many different ways to approach it. As a result, the major issue I chose for my feature article is to supply readers with pro-boxing statements in order to convince them that boxing should never be banned. To counter the anti-boxing criticism, I’ll use pro-boxing arguments. The issue I was experiencing was deciding on a single topic to focus on inside my beat. That was a challenging assignment for me because I wanted to choose a topic that would keep the reader engaged and attentive to the reading, so I had to go back and forth with a few topics inside my beat before deciding on one. For field work, I conducted a interview with a friend from the boxing gym where I used to train. I asked him about boxing in general and what he thinks of people who support outlawing the sport. The interview went well since I learned about his perspective as an amateur boxer.

You’re definitely on the right track. I think that’s something that really interests you, and I think it’s a good one because many people find boxing controversial. Stick with it! Be sure to acknowledge there are people who object and why, but then focus on the positives, including whatever interviews you get.
