Reflect on the writing that you have done so far (the education narrative drafts, posts here on the class OpenLab site and Perusall, all of the in-class writing activities, thinking and writing about genre, rhetorical situations/choices, ethos, logos, pathos, etc.) Now think about your proposed research project for your RAB (Unit 2). Specifically answer each question and post them on here in the comment section below:
o What personal investment do you have in the research issue youâve chosen?
o Why does your argument matter?
o In what ways have you narrowed your topic?
o What is/are your narrowed research question(s)?
o What are you struggling with most as you approach this project?
o What kinds of sources do you think you will use for your project (academic journal, online/newspaper/magazine article, book, Youtube, Tedtalk, blog, etc.)
1- I haven’t financially invested in this project except time
2-I think my argument matter in the fact that it is something that is impacting our peace and our safety as it is something that has been continously been an issue .It is also claiming lives of innocent people which is a considerable loss for both Israelite and Palestinians
3-my narrowed research questions were: why did this conflict start? Where are we going with this ? Why is this conflict still on ?What are the measures taken for this to come to N end?
4-I am struggling with putting it together, making it shorter and understandable .
5-i used Wikipedia, BBC so far
What personal investment do you have in the research issue youâve chosen?
As a Venezuelan living in the U.S., Im really invested in this research because I see how policies affect the population including me and my family back home, and I would like to share this perspective and highlight the complexities of the situation.
o Why does your argument matter?
My argument matters because it shoes how political decisions impact Venezuelan population.
o In what ways have you narrowed your topic?
Im focusing on how U.S. sanctions hit Venezuelan’s economic and oil sector, and what means for everyday Venezuelans.
o What is/are your narrowed research question(s)?\
Why the sanctions to Venezuela?
How do U.S. sanctions affect Venezuela’s oil production and economy?
Does the oil sanctions affect U.S.?
o What are you struggling with most as you approach this project?
Im finding it struggling to get the balanced sources that have multiple viewpoint.
o What kinds of sources do you think you will use for your project (academic journal, online/newspaper/magazine article, book, Youtube, Tedtalk, blog, etc.)
Im thinking to use academic journal, documentaries, and interviews.
1. I chose the Galapagos Islands as my research topic.
2. My argument is important because it tells about the different species that live on this island and the research that was done on it.
3. It tells about the flora and fauna and how this place is considered a nature reserve.
4. Why is it known as a nature reserve? How many species live there? What scientist investigated this island?
5. I am trying to identify the exact number of species that lived on the island and find reliable sources of information.
6. I plan to use online articles, YouTube, and books.
Oh Yeah , I’m presenting The Great 1906 San Francisco Earthquake. The California earthquake of April 18, 1906 ranks as one of the most significant earthquakes of all time. Today, its importance comes more from the wealth of scientific knowledge derived from it than from its sheer size. So I’m very excited to write my piece.
I chose to research about the âEffects of Childhood Poverty on the Outcome of Adulthood in Manila, Philippinesâ
Iâve seen every part of Manila, the capital of the Philippines. It might be known for its tall buildings, city lights, vibes, and famous places that leads foreigners to be fond of it when they hear the word âManilaâ. However, as someone who grew up in Manila, I witnessed poverty everywhere. It might not be visible by other peoples physical trait, but it is extremely seen by the way they act and react on certain things. My observation in poverty in Manila led me to a big question that I always ask myself âDid they end up like that because they lack access to opportunities because of poverty?â. Poverty is a big issue in my country, the Philippines, and I can say that this argument matter because it will not only serves as an eye opener but will also leave the readers knowledge about how poverty can impact the outcome of adulthood. At first, I was planning to research about the poverty in the Philippines, since poverty can be seen everywhere in my country not only in Manila. But, I figured that doing a research about poverty in Philippines is too wide and will require a lot of data and information. I narrowed it down to Manila, where poverty is extremely high and can be seen everywhere. My narrowed question for this research are âWhat are the causes of poverty in Manila?â, âDoes having no access for daily needs affect their mental health?â, âHow do people cope up with poverty?â, and âDoes the state of being in poverty has to do with the law system?â. These are the research questions I have so far, but I might add more question as I dig deeper on this research. So far, I am not yet struggling to provide the needed data and information for this research project. Since there are a lot of sources out there, especially on internet that tackles the same issue that Iâm focusing on. For this research, the kind of sources that I most likely will rely on or use are academic articles and online articles. To be specific, I will be using google scholar and google platform to gather my data and information for this research.
